Food For Thought......

I WISH I WOULD HAVE DONE THINGS DIFFERENTLY

Ever feel like you want a do over? Well that’s how I feel.

I began my journey with Scent-Sations over three years ago. When I began I knew basically nothing about network marketing or building a business on-line or off-line. But, I did have a pretty good head on my shoulders and have pretty good common sense. So, I figured I could tackle this monster if I put my passion and determination into it. I did just that.

I spent my time copying the duplicated systems that were in place for my on-line AND off-line business. I found pretty good success in doing this. I was very focused on what I was doing. If I thought of something I wanted to do I would find the tools to do it and tackle it passionately with a tunnel vision. But here is what I would have done differently. Yes, I used the duplicatable systems. But what I didn’t do was allow myself to REALLY be coachable. I listened to leaders with half an ear. As I focused on my current task at hand, I would only glance at emails that came through with other ideas and then file them. Or, I would look at the topics of the recorded training calls and file them away for another day….never really reading the emails or listening to the recorded calls. I was much too busy doing what I was doing to be bothered with other ideas. I’d get to them later.

Recently I had a conversation with another leader in the company and they said to me, “Gail, as a leader you need to be aware of what is going on around you. You don’t necessarily have to embrace all that they do or how they do it, but you need to be aware. Your way is not the only way and there may be some other way of doing something that someone on your team would be interested in.” Ouch! But boy did that hit home for me. I so appreciated that gentle slap upside the head.

Consequently, in the last few months I have kept my mind and eyes open to what others in this company are doing, as well as, been open to training from other on-line resources….there are a TON out there. I am feeding myself daily with coaching. I listen to one recorded call a day whether it is from someone in this company or someone who has gone before me and been successful. I read the posts on the Yahoo groups for content now. I am also doing a lot more reading about building a successful business. I still read a good novel now and again, but most of my reading is about how to grow my business.

I’ve been coached since day one to do what I have just now started doing in the last few months. THAT is what I would do over. My business has really boomed during this time. Just think how much further I would be if I had done this consistently for the last three years…………………Oh well, as one of my new inspirations says “You cannot buy back yesterday, but you CAN fully maximize today!” (www.DaniJohnson.com)

The Optimist Creed

Commit yourself:

To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.
To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.
To look at the sunnyside of everything and make your optimism come true.
To think only of the best, to work only for the best and expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.
To give so much time to improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
